So There I Am...

...minding my own business, feelin' kinda tired, readin' through all the updated blog posts for the day.
I'm nearly finished and about to indulge in 44 posts worth of my guilty pleasure, celebrity sleaze off of Perez Hilton's website, when I see IT.

There, in my list, is Stephenie Meyer's website.
Something has been updated.

A year or two ago, this would have been the cause of much rejoicing.
Now?
All I can ever think is, GOD, SAVE US.
Because now it's an overdone, over-the-top, cheesy, profit-generating empire.
I'm sorry.
But all of these CRAZY fans who gobble up this ridiculous merchandise are nothing more than the motor oil for the engine that is The Machine. The Machine takes good things, original things, and burns them out.
Overplayed!
GO AWAY!

Well, now IT HAS GONE TOO FAR.

NOW, THERE IS NEWS OF A GRAPHIC NOVEL.

Look, we GOT the books. We GOT the movies. We GOT the stickers and posters and pens and jewelry and puzzles and t-shirts and buttons and pillows and lunchboxes and journals and Iphone apps and bumper stickers and mugs and games and dolls and cards and super director's notebook and collector's editions and GOD KNOWS WHAT ELSE!

WE GOT IT.

PLEASE, MACHINE, STOP BEATING AN UNDEAD HORSE TO DEATH!

PS: There was recently a post over at Fang-tastic Books that asked:

Have you noticed a lot of snark lately directed against vampire romance? If so, what do you think has caused the burn out? What makes you insatiable for vampire books?

O.
The Irony.
